Robin's
Nest is a home built and designed on two acres of fenced land with
2200 square feet of indoor space for child care. It has a residential
sprinkler system for fire safety, a flushing baby potty, two child
sized sinks, a water fountain and a separate infant room. The child
care space has four ground level walk-out doors; three of which
exit into one fenced playground. The day care entrance faces the
street with exterior steps which permits good supervision of the
children along with easy access for their parents. Robin's Nest
is open to all ages, which gives your child an opportunity to be
in a group with multi-aged peers. Once your child is in school,
most of the next thirteen years will be spent with children of the
same age with competitive stress or with adults giving them authority.
Your child can develop nurturing skills and reinforce previously
learned concepts from helping younger children in my child care
home. Your child can better appreciate his or her own level of physical,
psychosocial, and cognitive development since multi-age groupings
provide children with a greater contrast of their abilities. My
home is well equipped with toys accessible to children and a large
variety of activities.
We have pets to include three dogs and fish plus our yard has birds, deer, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels,
turtles, frogs, and other animals.
My name is Robin Rice.
In 1980, I became a mother and now have four children, two boys
and two girls. In 1984, I started providing licensed child care
in Montgomery County to meet my child care needs. My education qualifies
me as a director of a child care center for over 40 children, but
I feel my parenting skills are why the quality of my child care
meets the standards I wanted for my children. Your children will form
a close, long-lasting relationship with my family from infancy through
their teens. Every day parents communicate directly with us about their
child's day.
My husband, Don Ackad is retired from the Secret Service where he was the Health and Safety Manager. He was a volunteer fireman for 25 years. He has a Master degree in Occupational Safety and Health and a Bachelor’s Degree in printing management. He is a level 3 credentialed provider and is both Teacher and Director qualified.
My daughter, Renee Shuman-Powell has her Bachelor’s degree in psychology, she is teacher qualified, Director qualified and a level 3 credentialed provider. She is an excellent cook and a Mom herself.
My granddaughter, Aveline Vale was born in 2006 and in currently in training, she is doing an excellent job in the cute department but we could always use more!
